At a fishing market in Sri Lanka, the early morning's catch is packed out on the ground and buyers tread over it to pick up and put in their baskets to carry home. I was struck by the contrast between random feet flying over the assortment of dead fish and the precise placement into which they were arranged and classified for orderly interaction between buyer and object and seller. The different rhythms played out by the neat rows of food objects and the haphazard feet of the humans negotiating treading space and prices. The image form part of the theme, Nature and Us which explores the different kind of relationships between humans and their environment.
