Gladys Nilsson: Works from 1966 -2009
The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art and Illinois Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts partners to present the work of Chicago artist Gladys Nilsson. As part of the Chicago Imagists, and in particlar a group of artists from the city’s late 1960’s known as the Hairy Who, she helped to bring national attention to Chicago art for the first time. Nilsson’s paintings are characterized by their quirkiness and imagination. Though known for her watercolors, this exhibition also offers the opportunity to view her mixed media and acrylics on plexiglass.
