DESCRIPTION

The Museum of Contemporary Art examines the artist’s studio as subject in Production Site: The Artist’s Studio Inside-Out. The exhibition features work that documents, depicts, or reconstructs the artist’s space and reveals how the studio functions as a place where research, experimentation, production, and social activity intersect. Works in the exhibition include large installations, films, photographic light-boxes, and life-sized fabrications of artists’ studios. Featured artists include Nikhil Chopra, Justin Cooper, Tacita Dean, and Amanda Ross-Ho.

Production Site is presented as part of Studio Chicago, a year-long collaborative project featuring city-wide exhibitions, talks, publications, tours, and research that focuses on the artist’s studio through October 2010. Participants include the MCA, Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, Columbia College Chicago, Gallery 400, Hyde Park Art Center, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and threewalls.
