DESCRIPTION

Opening reception January 14, 6-7:30PM (5-6PM VIP Reception)

In honor of the 150th Anniversary of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Monique Meloche Gallery will feature work from SAIC alumni and faculty represented or exhibited by the gallery. Winter Experiment: SAIC @ MMG provides a platform for celebration and acknowledgement of the wide-range of prolific artists and insurmountable faculty that SAIC generates. These sixteen featured artists all demonstrate an interdisciplinary approach to their respected practices which defies the misconception that Chicago artists fall within a regional aesthetic. This survey of work invites into question the ever-shifting practices of contemporary artists who have been affiliated with SAIC. We invite you to celebrate and help support the longstanding symbiotic relationship that galleries in Chicago and SAIC share. A portion of the sales on the opening night will support student scholarships at SAIC.
