Terrorists in the Library
The President’s Gallery at Harold Washington College presents Terrorists In The Library, a partially speculative research project. Negating positivist research strategies, the project attempts to trace, exhibit, and invent moments in which the structure of the library is being exposed in its weakness and terrorized. Charting the incidences where the material manifestation of knowledge is being undone and unraveled, the project highlights and questions the position of power of catalogued knowledge. In a parallel trajectory, the project exhibits manifestations of the frailty of what is assumed to be a stable fundamental cultural basis.
Among the participating artists are Anna Shteynshleyger, Dario Robleto, Dora Garcia, Michal Bar Or, Jase Flannery, Fred Schmidt-Arenales, Sarah Mendelsohn, Lior Modan, Kelly Lloyd, Ajax Athena, Rami George, Troy Briggs, and Molly Brandt.
The exhibition will treat its host, Harold Washington College, in a parasitic manner. It will also reach out to the halls of the school and affect its surroundings, the halls of the Olympic readers, the well read, the indoctrinators and the indoctrinated. We are welcoming the terror.
