DESCRIPTION

Shane Campbell Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Tony Lewis. This will be Lewis’ first show with the gallery in Chicago.

Lewis will show nine pencil and graphite powder works on paper from two groups of work. The large-scale drawings depict elements of text culled from a personal and political vocabulary, rearranged and edited to form new meaning.  The smaller-scale brick wall drawings function as a visual break from the discursive space of the text drawings and are grounded in their materiality.

Tony Lewis lives in Chicago and recently completed his MFA at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.  His work will be featured at Art Basel Statements in June, 2013 as well as NADA, Miami and Frieze, New York with Shane Campbell Gallery.
