Cultural Treasures: Vadim Gushchin
Well known for the quality and elegance of his prints, Moscow-based artist Vadim Gushchin, removes objects from their conventional environment and situational context. By isloating the object and placing it center-frame, Gushchin draws keen attention to the subject, suggesting the purity and form of the object. His photographs have the cool simplicity of a still-life integrated with minimal details that suggest a human presence. Gushchin has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows and has been incorporated into a number of public and private collections, including: Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Pushkin State Museum of fine Arts, and the Museu de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
