The "Caffeine V Exhibit: Another Brew of Work from the Artists' Breakfast Group" represents forty members of the Artists' Breakfast Group. At the opening reception, artists will be available to talk about their work. This annual event provides opportunities to meet and dialogue with the Chicago community through visual art.
"Artful Networks" well defines the purpose of the Artists' Breakfast Group. Founded 8 years ago as a support network for professional artists, the Breakfast group offers friendship and information for all who sit at our table. Most are repeat guests. Our backgrounds are diverse: nationalities are worldwide, races cover the spectrum, and our training is eclectic. We meet Wednesdays at S & G Restaurant, 3300 N. Lincoln Ave., 10 AM to noon. Members form networks to talk about upcoming exhibits and opportunities, often attending openings and studio visits together. Each meeting forms its own community, for the mix changes and evolves. The conversations are as diverse as the artists, but all are professionals who may dialogue and bond with colleagues. Another opportunity to meet is at Sunday night dinners at various restaurants about once every six weeks.
Our Annual Show, The Caffeine Exhibit, further solidifies us and familiarizes each other with our current work. Some artists traditionally exhibiting are: Didier Nolet, James Mesplé, Judith Roth, George C. Clark, Peter Jones, Ruyell Ho, and Eric Steele. Breakfast Group e-mail announcements are sent to the full membership list which totals about 90 people. Our blog further disseminates information on members' shows, awards, grants, and special achievements.
