DESCRIPTION

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicgo (MCA) is debuting four new large-scale outdoor sculptures by Miami Beach-based sculptor Mark Handforth. The playful outdoor works are displayed on the MCA plaza. Handforth utilizes materials drawn from everyday civic infrastructure, such as street lamps, road signs, fluorescent lights and radically reworks them into new configurations. The exhibit features an illuminated work titled Lamppost-snake, a giant coat hanger made from hand-bent brass pipe, a giant bone intertwined with an equally out of scale telephone handset, and a crumpled safety cone topped by an English Bobby hat cast in stainless steel and covered with layer upon layer of colorful paint.
