Of all the world’s greatest American cities, why did Chicago become the site of a special fascination with the art of self-taught, intuitive and non-academic artists? Chicago has many local artists, collectors, curators, and gallery owners who for generations have been sympathetic to outsider, naïve and folk art. What might this tell us? This panel discussion will tell us all. Panelist include Lynne Warren (Curator at Museum of Contemporary Art), Russell Bowman (Principal at Russell Bowman Art Advisory), and Monica Westin (Contributing Arts Writer at The Huffington Post). This discussion will be moderated by Rebecca Zorach (Associate Professor at the Department of Art History, The University of Chicago)
