Artist talk
West Loop/West Town
Sat 12-6; by appointment

Please join us on Saturday, September 25th for a gallery talk and conversation with Gary Stephan and Richard Rezac as they unveil and discuss Kabinett 2, the second of two consecutive exhibitions of their work at devening projects + editions. The discussion will begin at 2:00; the gallery will be open from 12 - 6pm. Refreshments will be served.

Kabinett 1 + 2 is the first in a series of exhibitions that draw attention to how one constructs meaning between art works, particularly when that relationship is not direct. Pairing New York painter Gary Stephan with Chicago sculptor Richard Rezac seems a natural starting point for an exhibition-based conversation about comparative and associative discourse. For more than three decades, they've each defined a highly diverse and idiosyncratic language of formal invention that continues to redefine abstraction. The exhibition presents an excellent opportunity to consider how perception and matter can act as defining elements in how a work is "read."

Gary Stephan will give a lecture about his work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on Wednesday, September 22nd at 5:00. The lecture is open to the public and will take place at the School auditorium in the 280 South Columbus Drive Building.

Kabinett 1 + 2 features recent editions by both artists.
