DESCRIPTION

Materials of the City brings together SAIC students and recent alumni whose work contends with cynicism and idealism in the post-Corbusier modern urban landscape. Through photography, design, sculpture, and installation, these artists grapple with the ideas and materials of the city, often illuminating their relationships to the architecture of urbanity. Taken together, the artists within the exhibition map a vision for the urban landscape that is playful as well as poignant. Curated by Danica Willard Sachs (MA 2011), curatorial assistant, Department of Exhibitions. Artists include: Sarah and Joseph Belknap, Liene Bosquê, Tim Graham and Michael Milano, Scott Jarrett, Jin Kim, Justyn Mainard, James Alured Powers,, Soo Shin, and Olivia Valentine
