DESCRIPTION

Happy Dog Gallery will be hosting a solo painting exhibition featuring Rachel Slotnick on Friday August 6th, from 7:30pm to midnight.  Rachel Slotnick recently received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  This is her first solo exhibition.

Rachel is an artist working in an interdisciplinary vein, and the show reflects her interest in hybridity.  In addition to visual art, written and spoken poetry, fiction, and music will be perfrormed and celebrated.  Featured paintings include text projections on canvas, letter shaped collage, and familial portraits with a narrative bent.  There will be a group reading beginning at 7:30 pm, showcasing a variety of talented artists pushing the boundaries of both traditional and nontraditional form.  Musical selections by DJ The Single Helix to follow.
