DESCRIPTION

David Weinberg Gallery is pleased to announce a solo show for Rhonda Wheatley in our Main Gallery with two small solo shows in our Galleries 2 and 3 featuring Yvette Kaiser Smith and Marissa Glink. These shows are the first for each artist at the David Weinberg Gallery. The shows will run from Friday June 4 – July 17, 2010. There will be an opening reception at the gallery on Friday June 4 from 5-8pm. All of the artists will be in attendance. Wheatley and Smith will be producing entirely new and previously unseen bodies of work and Glink will be adding to her ongoing series.

Marissa Glink (b. 1982) received a Bachelor in Fine Arts, with an emphasis in jewelry and ceramics, from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Glink received further training in ceramics and small metals at SACI in Florence, Italy. In addition, she was the owner and director of Yale Art Center, an alternative art space used for art exhibitions, visual performances, art classes and media presentations in Albuquerque, NM.  She is now living and working in Chicago. Glink creates unique styles of ceramic wall  installations. The organic nature of these installations focuses on neutral colors created by the firing process that recall pebbles on the beach or clusters of sea coral. Simple yet elegant, Glinkʼs work has a calm flow that will serve as a foil to the rigid structure and vivid colors of Kaiser-Smithʼs installations. This is Marissaʼs debut show in Chicago.
