Diane Simpson: Sculpture + Drawing, 1978-2009
Representing more than 30 years of work, this retrospective exhibition includes over 40 sculptures and drawings by this accomplished Chicago artist.
Simpson’s work is often inspired by historical dress from various cultures and eras, at times incorporating references from architecture and sculpture. With distinct changes in scale and materials, her contemporary sculptures engage viewers with abstract depictions of the body, shelter, and protection. The formal elegance of her construction is mirrored in her drawings, which also reveal her creative process.
