Shane Campbell Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Michelle Grabner at the gallery’s three locations. This will be Gra bner’s fifth solo exhibition with the gallery.

Grabner will present an installation of paper weavin gs at the Chicago location as a flatbed of overlapping works.  In the Linco ln Park space\, Grabner will show a group of small gingham patterned painti ngs.  In Oak Park\, Grabner will install three monochromatic woven gesso re liefs on Brendan Fowler’s sculpture.

Grabner’s gingham patterned paintings\, paper weavings\, and g esso reliefs are exercises in visual cliché construction. Valuing sturdy tr uthfulness and unfailing predictability\, Grabner implores the ‘uncreative\ ,’ routinely engaging in acts of conditional boredom.

Michelle Grabner is a Professor and Chair of the Painting and Drawing Department at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is represented by Shane Campbell Gallery\, Chicago and runs Th e Suburban and The Poor Farm with her husband Brad Killam. She will co-cura te the 2014 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art.  Her wo rk is included in the permanent collections at the Walker Art Center\, Minn eapolis\; Museum of Contemporary Art\, Chicago\; MUDAM - Musée d’Art Modern e Luxemburg\; Milwaukee Art Museum\, Milwaukee\, Wisconsin\; Daimler Contem porary\, Berlin\; Smithsonian American Art Museum\, Washington DC\, and the Victoria and Albert Museum\, London.
