Projects will include presentations and print collateral, advertising (print and online), brand identity development, signage, and exhibition graphics. Creates presentations and pitches for the Department of Development to help attract corporate sponsorships. Communicates strategic goals into design solutions, establishing conceptual and design platforms for an integrated suite of applications and in alignment with Museum brand identity. Plays a key role in developing concepts and creative campaign solutions to support Museum-wide marketing and communications goals. Oversees the budget, daily work routine, and design production of assigned projects. Meets with various departmental clients to discuss scope, design, budget, and schedule of projects. Presents preliminary designs, comprehensives, and complete layouts, for review and approval for jobs such as graphic identity for exhibitions, invitations, brochures, marketing campaigns, signage, posters, newsletters, and magazines. Initiates brainstorm sessions with design team and clients. Produces complete and final mechanical files for printer. Verifies that files match all printer’s specifications. Reviews proofs and makes all necessary revisions until final product is delivered meeting or exceeding all required quality standards and objectives. Supervises senior designers, designers, and freelance designers. Reports to Creative Director, Department of Graphic Design and Advertising.
Requirements: BFA or MFA in graphic design or equivalent experience. Six to nine years design and production experience, including four years as a senior designer or art director. Excellent design and conceptual ability with thorough knowledge of advertising, digital media, exhibition design, and print and digital production. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong managerial expertise, with the ability to oversee projects, people, budgets, and timelines. Skilled in strategic planning, creating and delivering verbal and visual presentations, and ability to incorporate client feedback into the creative process. Proactive problem-solving proficiency. Interpersonal leadership skills, adept at finessing outstanding working relationships with a wide variety of personality types, and mentoring junior designers and interns. Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (CS5.5) and InCopy. Additional knowledge of Digital publishing software, Flash, Dreamweaver, HTML, and CSS, and Adobe After Effects preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
