Galerie Volker Diehl is focussed on contemporary art with international relevance. The programme includes the emerging Indian stars Shilpa Gupta (Mumbai/India) and Rina Banerjee (New York), the internationally acclaimed Chinese born artist Zhang Huan (New York), the renowned Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa (Barcelona), and the controversial Russian duo “Blue Noses“ (Moscow). Next to these international positions the programme is balanced and rooted by German artists such as the photographers Thomas Florschuetz and Frauke Eigen or the painters Martin Assig and Martin Borowski.

Galerie Volker Diehl has recently moved into a new 400 m2 venue in a freshly refurbished gallery house on Lindenstraße in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The former space on Zimmerstraße in Berlin´s art district Mitte was rededicated to show now young, emerging artists and guest-curated shows under the label “Diehl Projects“. A third space, „Diehl Moscow“, is scheduled to open in April 2008 with a show by Jenny Holzer.

Volker Diehl is the first Western gallerist to open a gallery in Russia. The inaugural exhibition will be followed by the show “Glasnost Perestroijka”, a project focussing on Russian political art from the 80’s.
