L'Atelier - kunst(spiel)raum is an exhibition space in the back yard of Grossbeerenstr. 34 in Mehringdamm, Berlin. 180m2 over two floors host a program of solo presentations by young artists as well as experimental sound concerts, screenigs and works in progress through residencies.
This is a project of curator Stefania Angelini (MC) initiated with the goal to act as a professional intermediate for selected young artists and at the same time as an interdisciplinary playroom for the local and international artistic community in Berlin. Six to seven selected artists per year will be given the opportunity to present their work in an equipped gallery space, without the usual white cube attitude. Its interdisciplinary vision focuses on creating a platform for new ideas, interaction and networking. The space is young and evolve together with its artists.
In October 2012, L'Atelier got rewarded by the Bank Pictet during the Cutlog Art Fair by "the gallery prize", as well as the artist Clemence de La Tour du Pin by the Arte prize.
