DESCRIPTION
This year's group exhibition at the UferHallen in Berlin Wedding is entitled OUT OF WEDDING and features 56 artists whose studios are located on the UferHallen grounds. Many of the artists, including young and emerging artists like Jacqueline Doyen and Vanessa Henn, have either selected their largest works or adapted their working practices to take advantage of the 3,000 sqm of space available in the UferHallen.

Despite the varied range of artworks and the random manner in which they come together in this exhibition, a few underlying themes and methods can be observed: questions of identity and normality or subjective investigations dfrom video ealing with architecture and film are evident throughout. Some of the works focus on the transition to sculpture or photography to painting while others comprise a rearrangement of found everyday objects or a portrayal of the city and its unique character. Through pure coincidence, one can easily discover relationships of form and content between many of the works.

A large number of the works will be exhibited for the first time, especially given that they were specifically created for the OUT OF WEDDING exhibition. These include an outdoor installation by Adrian Lohmüller in the courtyard, the "Stanley" wall installation by Heiner Franzen, a room installation by Matti Isan Blind, the interactive "Friendship" piece by Zhivago Duncan and a wood sculpture by Diminik Bednarek in the exhibition hall. The painters Giovanna Sarti, Matthias Galvez and Sebastian have also created new work for the exhibitions. Other artists such as Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen, Stefka Ammon, Liu Anping or Kristian Pettersen have simply chosen to expand upon their existing works. The video installation of John Bock was created last year on the UferHallen grounds in the former washrooms of the BVG (Berlin Transport Authority).
