DESCRIPTION

Neu-Hohenschönhausen cornerstone has been layed 30 years ago, in 1984.

30 years later the district has planned many events to celebrate this anniversary, and has asked other spaces to organize activities around this subject.
We moved to our studios in the beginning of 2014 and should leave them in February 2015 in order to give space for the renovation of Plattenbauten and shops on our street. This will lead to an increase of the rent for people living or working here, the authorities are also awaiting a new wave of inhabitants leaving the more expensive center of Berlin in order to find cheaper flats here.
We decided therefore to use these temporal limitations and play with them, as if we would have always been here, since the first moment Neu-Hohenschönhausen was founded.

Before saying farewell to our space in Zingster Strasse 10, we have invited artists to approach in their way the official and unofficial history of Hohenschönhausen: the landscape, the architecture, the social and economic realities of a debatable utopic vision, which since the 1970s had lead to the transformation of sewage fields into a new area of housing estates, beginning in Marzahn and ending right up in Neu-Hohenschönhausen.

Opening hours during the exhibition:

Wed- Sat 3-7 pm, Sun 1 -6 pm with clay-workshop

About JWD – Zwischenzeitlicher Raum für Kunst und Reisen

JWD is a group of six artists and one curator. In december 2013 we had submitted a proposal to HOWOGE for the temporary use of their empty shop-rooms in the Zingster Strasse 10 and we got them.
We use the rooms as studios but also as a place for the realization of exhibitions, projects, and workshops.
Our aim is to get in contact with the local community and to give everyone the chance to get in contact with the process of art production. At the same time we involve in some of the questions concerning our neighborhood. We want to challenge the community and get closer to it, trying to activate a mutual exchange.
