For the visual and performing art exhibit, PERMACULTURE, the curator has chosen international street or otherwise urban artists whose work is concerned with issues of sustainability in their own practice and of our world. The exhibit will include reclaimed and upcycled materials, documentation of eco-conscious projects that were executed on city streets for an unsuspecting viewership, and time-based projects that will unfold during the month. The goal of this exhibit is to provide a forum for discussion about the state of the environment and to provoke ideas about re-purposing for sustainable art practice.
This is a multi-media exhibition featuring painting, photography, video and installation work, including projects created by Zonenkinder Kollektiv from Hamburg and furniture made from re-purposed skateboards by Deckstool Company. The Franco-German art collective, NEOZOON, will screen their video “Non Toed Fur Coatie”, which documents a site-specific installation of mechanically animated fur coats in the Münster Zoo, and explores the visitors’ reactions. Berlin’s urban art representative EMESS will display his projects “City Music Berlin” and “City Music Stockholm”. Eric Otto will present original paintings as well as a video production, and Mosstika will include a ground installation made from earth and salt. Spanish artist SpY will share his visionary and thought-provoking urban interventions in large-scale photographs.
In addition to viewing the video screenings, two-dimensional and installation work featured in the gallery, the public will be invited to participate in weekly workshops led by artists that use re-purposed materials to create art objects.
