Yuko Ueno was born in Tochigi, Japan, and moved to New York in 1997. She studied figurative sculpture at the Art Students League and the National Academy in New York. She has received numerous awards, including those from the National Sculpture Society, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and the National Academy. She is a Technical Instructor of Sculpture Casting at the Art Students League of New York. Ueno has also been involved in theatre and dancing, the experiences of which she draws upon to create her installations and sculptures. Throughout her career, Ueno's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and solo exhibitions including Treasure of the Earth (2008) at the Tribal Spears Gallery, New York; and Peacock Butterfly (2012) at the Janet Art Space, New York. Installation performances include Queen of Magical Butterfly (2011) and Night's Dream of Peacock Butterfly (2012) at the M55 Art, New York. Publications include NY Arts Magazine, Art Calendar Magazine, Sculpture Community, Beauty News NYC, among others.
