My work investigates shadows and light, sequence and order. I gravitate towards making grids, patterns, and shapes that are architectural or industrial in nature, though they can be derivative of nature itself.
Form and light work together to create a juxtaposition of sharp lines and shadows against organic forms, in which upon, I investigate the way light interacts with the surfaces. I incorporate sequences of shapes or patterns to establish either symmetry, asymmetry, or even movement within the piece.
The making of this work is process oriented and partially improvised. All of my molds for casting porcelain are made from hand carved plaster pieces. I am currently working on a body of work made of casted concrete, as well as casted resin.
