immediately and for a short time Balloons weapons too-tight clothing worries of all kinds
Bunker259 is pleased to open the exhibition immediately and for a short time balloons weapons too-tight clothing worries of all kinds by Heather Phillipson, in conjunction with a catalogue text by Elizabeth Neilson, independent curator and Director of Zabludowicz Collection, London.
For her first solo exhibition in the USA, and constructed specifically for the uniquely intimate setting of Bunker 259, Phillipson suspends a single-screen video inside a sculpted, painted, and collaged environment, forming a series of layers and surfaces that physically mimics the viewing experience.
[sound: static electricity, panting, moans, countdown – 5…4…3…2…fireworks - BANG!]
Thanks for voting with your flesh and being here, in the roll-on pictures, the peel-off noises, the violent shaving.
[sound: ‘textured & minty’ (repeat, repeat) / image: finger-sock brushes teeth (repeat, repeat)]
The mouth is acavity for language and sensual experience. What happens in your mouth may not stay in your mouth. Other people’s tongues, for example.
[sound: yawn / image: painted seascape / INTERTITLE: ‘turn-off’ / 'PLEASE']
Re-view the scenery. Dig into sensations. How does it all wedge together? How does it feel? How about those cucumbers?
[sound: ‘oooh!’ / ‘wow!’ / ‘oooh!’ / ‘wow!/ party poppers]
The escapade scrubs us down/fills us up, touched up by language. Language is an oral contagion: now wash your hands / please report any suspicious images / are we here, are we actually
[voice drowned out by coughing]

Bunker259 is dedicated to providing artists and writers with a platform and outlet for collaboration. A single artwork in conjunction with a text will be exhibited in a space open to the public by appointment. The purpose of the appointment is to foster an intimate and focused viewing experience. These collaborations between writer, artist, and Bunker259 will be documented in an edition of the Bunker259 book series, published on the occasion of each exhibition.
