Jorge Marin - Reflection and Balance
Renowned Mexican sculptor Jorge Marín returns to Couturier Gallery with his seventh solo show, Reflection & Balance. The exhibition features new bronze and stone sculptures as well as recent works showcasing his arsenal of figural subjects including garudas, equilibrists, and horses, with the elemental features that he is best known for, such as boats, masks, wings and spheres. The 10 bronze works in this show are a testament to his classical portrayal of the human form in a decidedly modern context. The opening reception will be Saturday, January 12th from 6-8pm.

He explains:
"By coordinating the bodies, segment by segment, I attempt to give my sculptures a voice of their own, which communicates something different to each spectator."
"I have found in bronze an intrinsic power that allows me to build dynamic bodies, bodies full of movement, which challenge gravity by rotating in space and balancing themselves with minimal support."
In 2010, a public exhibition of 13 monumental bronze sculptures entitled “The Wings of the City,” was installed opposite the
