On October 26, Jessica Bradley will open a 2,700 - square foot industrial space at 74 Miller Street on the edge of the Junction neighborhood, joining other pioneers in the westward expansion along the railway line of Toronto’s contemporary art scene.
Since Bradley opened her gallery in 2005, known as Jessica Bradley Art + Projects, in a storefront on Dundas Street West near Dufferin Street, more than 50 exhibitions of an emerging generation of artists have attracted critical attention and art-world interest. Several of these artists are now rising stars – Shary Boyle will represent Canada at the 2013 Venice Biennale. In 2008 Bradley renovated and expanded her intimate gallery to include a second-floor showroom and office. The gallery at 1450 Dundas Street West, a location recently enlivened by restaurants and new gallery neighbours, will remain open with programming during regular Wednesday through Saturday hours, 12 to 5pm.
Jessica Bradley Annex at 74 Miller Street will be open on Fridays and Saturdays only from 11 am to 6pm. The Annex will show-case works meriting a more spacious environment and provide greater flexibility for a project approach to exhibitions that brings gallery artists together in a dynamic context with their Canadian and international peers.
