From its inception as the first gallery in the City of North York in 1977, Glendon Gallery has steadily received the respect of the public and the professional arts community alike as a vital presence on the Toronto art scene. Focusing on contemporary art, the Glendon Gallery provides a monthly exhibition from September to May, with a mostly educational mission.
The Gallery offers a balanced exhibition programme of historical, modern, and contemporary Canadian and International art. It focuses, in particular, on the presentation and interpretation of emerging Canadian art of merit, with an added interest - consistent with the bilingual identity of Glendon College - in francophone artistic expression. As a university public art gallery, we serve two communities with equal responsibility.
The selection of the exhibits is assumed by the Advising Committee formed by professional artists and art critics. In addition to this committe, the Glendon Gallery retains the services of a curator whose main task is to assume the gallery's artistic mission, a Coordinator in charge of the exhibit logistic, and finaly a team of technicians responsible for setting up the Gallery exhibits.
The Glendon Gallery is a member of the Ontario Association of Art Galleries and de l’Association des groupes en arts visuels francophones (L’AGAVF).
