Megan McCabe’s newest series of paintings feature the presence of a sole figure in a number of familiar environments, isolated from the comfort of the group dynamic typically explored in her work. Following McCabe’s continued study of the figure in the landscape, Yesterday’s Stone addresses McCabe’s fascination with the experience of stillness, be it calm or frenzied, produced by the environments we find ourselves occupying. The uncertain nature and intention of McCabe’s figures, confronted with the immensity of the world around them, provides a unique opportunity to consider and reflect upon the range of physical and psychological responses we negotiate daily. Yesterday’s Stone marks the fourth solo exhibition for Megan McCabe with LE Gallery. McCabe holds a BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design University.
