New work by two Texas artists, Steven DaLuz and Debbie Stevens
DaLuz, typically known for his landscape-referential abstractions, has directed his attention to the human form for this exhibit. His new work captures the human inthe form of angelic beings with wings. Using a technique he calls “neo-luminism”, DaLuz composes his works with gold leaf, copper leaf, chemically induced patinas, and other mixed media. Critics have described his work as carrying “brilliant luminosity” and “sublime presence”.
Stevens will also present creatures with wings. In her case, her most recent paintings of cranes, wading birds and shore birds. Stevens’ work appears to be realistically rendered but upon closer viewing water is broken into assorted abstract shapes, giving the piece contemporary undertones.
