Roswell Museum and Art Center

For his exhibition, Brian Kluge will present one of his central bodies of sculptural work. His work consists of ceramic and wood objects with simple, geometric forms and textured surfaces that allude to age. Kluge’s work can be characterized by contrasts, such as: unknown/familiar, organic/geometric, aged/new, rough/smooth, dark/bright, heavy/light, random/ordered. His pieces range in scale from handheld objects to installations. By using archetypal forms, making reference to age, and exploring dualities, Kluge investigates aspects of the human experience.

Brian Kluge is currently a fellow with the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Foundation. His work is frequently featured in national exhibitions, most recently at Texas A&M International University, Indiana University—Kokomo, The University of Tulsa, and the Ceramics Center of Iowa. Concurrent to his exhibition at RMAC, Kluge’s work will also be on display in a two-person show at Santa Fe Clay. He received an MFA degree from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln and a BS degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
