New Paintings by Sandra Pratt
Selby Fleetwood Gallery will host an opening reception for Sandra Pratt on Friday, June 18th from 5-7 pm. Pratt is a self-taught artist who creates unique and compelling landscapes of places real and imagined. Using palette knives as her primary tool, she layers her oil paint on linen ground in a personal and emotional process. Pratt uses both graceful flowing lines and deft staccato knife strokes to portray her own inner landscape. Although still quite young, she has received much attention for her distinctive style.
In this newest body of work, a spectrum of colors and textures are used to portray landscapes and cityscapes that vary in scale from intimate to panoramic. Pratt often employs buildings that hint at an unseen human presence. Her work is truly unique in abstract representational painting.
Ms. Pratt recently became a mother. Since her work is so personal, it will be interesting to see how this added dimension in her private life will reflect in her new paintings. Come meet this talented young artist Friday evening, June 18th.
