June 25th - July 23rd

Transmitting information is inherent in today’s networked Internet Age. The information structures of our digital surroundings resemble the inner transmitting systems of nerves and their contacts, the synapses. With the help of messenger substances, neurotransmitters like serotonin pass on information and thereby activate the inner neural system. In her installation Conditions for Neurotransmission [P.O.V.] artist Annabelle Craven-Jones visualizes the mutual effects of both information systems and... [more]

20160114173303-munchthescream MORE THAN JUST "THE SCREAM"
by
Edvard Munch at Neue Galerie Museum for German and Austrian Art > New York
February 18th - June 13th
Posted 6/11/16

Review by Pam Malone Do not make the mistake of thinking Munch is just about "The Scream". or for that matter, angst. He was a great artist, who was the father of Expressionism, and his palette was large enough for every emotion. He dealt with melancholy, sadness, love and yes, in his own way, happiness. Have you ever thought about how you began a habit? Let’s say you bite your nails. Do you remember the very first time you put your finger in your mouth and chewed down? by
Josephine Taylor at Catharine Clark Gallery > San Francisco
April 23rd - May 28th
Posted 5/22/16

Within the gallery is a series of artworks demonstrating the most recent manifestation of a drawing practise that Taylor has devotedly explored since her MA at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1992. In contrast to her previous large scale ink drawings where Taylor would us... [more]
