Description
"The Big Bang" evolved out of my interest in the "Big Bang Theory." Like most of my abstract paintings, it took me on a journey during the creation. When I say journey, I mean though I often have a clear direction in which I intend to move, i.e., a clear view of the end result, my life experiences are actually what prevail, what influence me. Much of abstract art is allowing your intuitive juices to create... they trump the cerebral inclination. I began "The Big Bang" by first laying in the black frame work to help emphasize the central explosive colors. That was the cerebral influence. From there the intuitive interpretation was permitted to dictate movement and color. I used various techniques from strong forceful brush strokes, to wet-n-wet. The final technique, purely determined by intuition, and my awareness that the painting was not yet complete, was the fluid splattering of paint. It is not uncommon for me to set aside a painting for days while I determine the next movement... then one day, for some unclear reason, I know exactly what I need to do.
