> DESCRIPTION

In the project room, we welcome back gallery artist Ian Huebert. His images from an (imagined?) Plain States landscape populate our smaller gallery. Huebert, a cartoonist for theRumpus.net (under editorship of Paul Madonna), shows pieces featured online as well as many other drawings and sculpture. Huebert's world is one inhabited by "normal folks" above whom floats a sparse atmosphere of uncertainty, a little bit of dread and a wry smiles.

In addition to writing for theRumpus.net, Huebert's work can be seen in More Things Like This, a catalog of contemporary drawings curated by Dave Eggers, Dinner with poems by Jesse Nathan, and on numerous book covers. This is his first solo project at Electric Works.
