George Lawson Gallery: room for painting room for paperEVENT
> QUICK FACTS
> DESCRIPTION
In the front room the gallery presents a modest hanging of five artists working with photo-based media who share an approach to focus in their imagery that would have been anathema to the traditional photographer a few years back. We are calling this impromptu group hanging, Transfocus. I had originally scheduled to install a large solo statement of Nina Zurier's but after consideration with her, decided to expand it into a table discussion. With this selection from Tama Hochbaum, Keira Kotler, Susan Mikula, Jennah Ward, and Nina Zurier, we offer a sneak preview of formal concerns more often associated with painting, and an evolving language to be explored in greater depth through future solo shows of these artists work in the room for paper. |
