Electric Works is pleased to announce "On A Neck," a solo exhibition by Nathan Redwood, September 11 - November 7, 2009. The reception on Friday, September 11 from 6- 8 PM at 130 8th St in San Francisco is free and open to the public.

Redwood's new body of paintings shifts attention from architecture and construction materials that have been the focus of his work in the past. With the same skilled hand he has been developing for the last several years, Redwood's concerns have turned from the inanimate to the animate.  More specifically: portraiture is a theme of Redwood's latest work—portraiture that still is filtered through Redwood's specific painting style and ethos.  Human faces and bodies now inhabit the earthy and rich landscapes that heretofore populated his industrial landscapes.  In an ever-tightening of his specific painting style Redwood enters into the lively discourse of painting the human form.

A graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Nathan Redwood's work is in the collection of the San Jose Museum of Art, and has shown at the Neuberger Museum of Art and numerous solo and group gallery exhibitions in the US and Europe. His work has been featured in, among others, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Art in America, and ArtUS.
