Gallery Paule Anglim is pleased to announce a tribute exhibition to two artists long represented by the gallery, Bruce Conner (1933-2008) and Terry Fox (1943-2008).
Terry Fox was key to the California Conceptual Art movement. With performance, video and sculptural installations, beginning in the late 1960s, he experimented with elements ritual and symbolic, drawing from essential physical science and commonplace objects. The space and presence of letters and words became a field of exploration in later years.
Born in 1943, Fox studied at the Cornish School of Allied Arts in Seattle and the Accademia di Belli Arti in Rome. He worked in New York, Düsseldorf, and San Francisco and showed at Documentas 5 and 6, Kassel, Germany; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Modern Art Gallery, Vienna; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany; Musee d'Art Moderne, Paris; and Het Apollohuis, Eindhoven, Holland.
