Gather at Southern Exposure for the final performances of The Long Conversation on the penultimate night of the exhibition’s run. Moira Roth and Anne Walsh read selections from Leonora Carrington’s surrealist, feminist novel The Hearing Trumpet along with passages from Walsh's An Annotated Hearing Trumpet manuscript. Christian Nagler’s experimental lecture I Want to Be Alive leads the group in an interrogation of livingness versus lifeless rehearsals.
This event is part of The Long Conversation, an exhibition and performance series organized by Southern Exposure, presenting work by current and former Bay Area artists whose practices are rooted in the strategies of the West Coast, alternative, idea-based, experimental and time-based artwork pioneered in the 1970s. Organized in conjunction with Southern Exposure's 39th Birthday, the exhibition features actions, videos, performances, installations and events presented both on and off-site.
