> DESCRIPTION

Join Hung Liu at this informal in-gallery talk and tour as she talks about her work featured in the exhibition Summoning Ghosts: The Art of Hung Liu. The talk begins with a 30-minute screening of excerpts from the 1949 film Daughters of China by Zifeng Ling and Qiang Zhai, which Liu often refers to as an inspiration for her artwork. In the film, eight female Chinese soldiers fight for their country to the point of defeat. Instead of surrendering to the enemy, they choose to walk into the river carrying a dead comrade.

Film includes subtitles in English. This program is co-curated by students from the California College of Art’s Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice. Included with Museum admission. Free to OMCA Members. Part of Friday Nights @ OMCA.
