We Are California History / Walk
Is a unique show up at the Oakland Art Gallery that invited artists to submit pieces that either recreate or sum up their first “California History Moment”. A memory that could be based upon personal memory as much as “historical fact”.

Participating artists include:
Timothy Buckwalter, Jessica Cadkin, Paola Coda, Alika Cooper, Kamil Dawson, Narangkar Glover, Daniel Healey, Robbin Henderson, Hannah Henry, Amy Hibbs, Jeanty, Therese Lahaie, Scott MacLeod, Jill McLennan, E. Minnow, Colleen Mulvey, Claire Nereim, Russ Osterweil, Nathanial Parsons, Susannah Prinz, Jasmine Shahbandi, Julia Shirar, Andrew Ütt, Susan Vander Mellen, Patricia Wakida, Jeanty, Janet Silk Gabrielle Thormann

As California has often been invoked as the furthest frontier and the seedbed for the future of the country this is an opportunity for California artists, both recently arrived and “native”, to explore the relationship between their own recollections and experiences and public conceptions of the state’s history.

There will be an exciting Art Walk closing event on September 27th that is, in structure, based upon a cakewalk. Primarily no art will be bought or sold; art will be exchanged for art.

However as this also a fundraiser for the Oakland Art Gallery! So, tickets will be sold on a sliding scale of donation of $40.00 - $100.00 that will allow the public to enter the Art Walk and win a piece of art.

If you would not like to participate in the walk, but would like to come to the event, the entry is FREE.

Please come join us and enjoy some live music and great art.

Thank You,
Jo Ford / Curator, Juror
Maria Porges, Juror
