The Collected Works, together with the Performance Art Institute, is proud to present the Bay Area professional premiere of Princess Ivona, the 1935 Absurdist comic masterpiece by the celebrated Polish playwright Witold Gombrowicz. The story of a silent, awkward young woman whose strangeness fascinates a Prince to the point that he proposes to her, this dark and timeless fable is a brilliant and often hilarious examination of the role of power and desire in human relations. The performance showcases the colaborative work of an innovative team of directors, scholars, performers, and designers; this is their inaugural project as The Collected Works.
