> DESCRIPTION

Melissa Cody is a 4th generation textile artist working in the realm of the Germantown Revival style, incorporating eclectic color schemes, bold, sharp lines, and geometric overlay to enhance the appearance of 3-dimensional planes.  During her residency, she will create woven textiles which address environmental issues that affect "The Forgotten People", tribal members of her home region of the Navajo Reservation, in rural Arizona.

Join the artist in the studio from December 5 to December 27, 2012, Wednesdays-Sundays 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Artist reception, Saturday, December 15, 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the Kimball Education Gallery

The Artist Studio program is a part of FAMSF’s Cultural Encounters initiative designed to attract new and diverse audiences to the Museums.

Cultural Encounters Friday Nights at the de Young is generously funded by The Hearst Foundations and The Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation.
