Points of Departure is a nomadic talk series curated by Zoë Taleporos and Pablo Guardiola that brings together cultural producers from the Bay Area and abroad to discuss source material for projects or topics of interest that are peripheral to their practice.
For the inaugural series at the Royal NoneSuch Gallery, Points of Departure will focus on the categories of the classic board game, Trivial Pursuit: Geography, Arts & Literature, Entertainment, Sports & Leisure, History, and Science & Nature. Six artists, writers, and curators have been asked to give 20 minute presentations on one of these categories in an attempt to showcase their non-art-based knowledge from their unique perspective as arts practitioners. The goal is not to have the presenters talk about their own work, but to give them an opportunity to discuss other interests/passions that may or may not inform their projects.
