> DESCRIPTION

Pierre Bal-Blanc is the director and curator of CAC Brétigny(Contemporary Art Center of Bretigny) in France, where his innovative exhibition program has drawn much attention to a previously overlooked suburb of Paris. Known for constructing enduring relationships with artists, since 2003 he has pursued the Phalanstère Project, a site-specific series parallel to the exhibitions and residencies program of CAC, for which each exhibited artist is asked to donate a permanent work to the art center. Exhibitions such as La Monnaie Vivante-Living Currency and Draft Score for an Exhibition, reveal Bal-Blanc's curatorial focus as the current and historical analysis of the body and strategies related to performance in visual arts.
