Bay Area painter Charles Eckart will present 10 oil paintings in his second exhibition at PSG. With the current exhibition,Paintscapes, Eckart focuses on the material of paint, building his impasto surface with the notion that paint is it's own referent, yet still giving his viewers landscape references, such as bright colors emerging from a dark ground, or urban grays mixed with cool blues. Kenneth Baker comments, "Eckart locates, or brings into being, a focal plane where we can dwell on the pleasure of seeing paint regain the materiality it sacrifices to subject matter in most figuration. On the same plane, we experience what anyone who knows painting will recognize as real expertise."
Charles was the recipient of the Phelan Award Competition is 1965, 67 & 69. He has had exhibitions at Allan Stone Gallery in New York and Hansen- Fuller Gallery in San Francisco before beginning a long relationship with Charles Campbell who supported his work for over 20 years.
Exhibition extended through December 22. Gallery closed December 1-10, visit us at Miami Project, Booth 107
