SomArts Main Gallery will be presenting “Conversations with the Brush: 3 Women Artists” during the month of August 2008. This exhibition will feature paintings and monoprints by Joan Miro and Reiko Muranaga of San Francisco and Yumiko Oda of Hiroshima, Japan. The three artists work in very different styles and media, but their works speak across the expanse of the Pacific Ocean, engaging in universal themes. Their imagery will be figurative and abstract, including the human, the avian, trees, sea and sky. All three artists use the brush, particularly the sumi-e brush, to arrive at their distinctive images.
