Back to the Picture Latin American Gallery and Curator Sarah Dorrance present:

MAPS ONLY:  Radical Cartography in Contemporary Art

Opening Reception:  Saturday, May 26, 2012, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The exhibit runs from May 26 through June 25, 2012.

Curated by Sarah Dorrance, MAPS ONLY features the cartographic artwork of 11 artists from the Bay Area and beyond.

The human spirit is an inquisitive one; maps are universally fascinating to most people because we enjoy exploring the world beyond our everyday existence.  On exhibit will be maps of places, real and imagined, in media ranging from mosaic to multimedia, drawing, painting, and mixed media.

MAPS ONLY features the artwork of:
Mary Brown, Sarah Dorrance, Randy Figures, Char Green, Brian Jones, Dick Keltner, Oliver Lowe, Fernando Marti, Debbie Sciales, and the student cartographers of the Mission Possible project of UC Berkeley.

LordRifa and True North (The Reverend LordRifa, Steve Levy, Brian Chase, William Salit) provided musical accompaniment on opening night.  Special thanks to the band!

The exhibit runs through June 25th.  Open hours are M-Sat 10-6, Sun 12-5.  Don't miss it!
