For Tami Demaree's third solo show at Steven Wolf Fine Arts, the California-based artist explores the way hoaxes, illusions and myths infiltrate and animate our efforts to represent reality. The sculptures, videos, collages and light show are inspired by the Philadelphia Experiment, an alleged event during World War II, in which the US Military is said to have rendered a Navy destroyer invisible using a cloaking device that involved the bending of light. In other accounts the Navy is said to have also succeeded in tele-transporting the ship, named the USS Eldridge, various distances with hilarious and disastrous results.  Demaree received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design and has exhibited work in Paris, Berlin, Prague and Vienna.
