Book Signing with the Artist - RSVP highly encouraged, Friday June 15th 6-9 PM

In celebration of Rex Ray's new book, "Information," Gallery 16 will host a weekend pop-up exhibition and book release with the artist. The 480 page, hardcover book documents Ray’s life and career. "Information" is a visual journey of Rex's inspirations. The book contains images of his artwork, photographs taken by the artist, private moments of inspiration and personal images of the artist's childhood. “Information” is a collection of moments that have shaped the artist and his work. This special pop up exhibition will last only three days and will include a selection of new Rex Ray original artwork.

Ray’s unique sensibility straddles both the world of Fine Art and Graphic Design. His paintings and collage have received acclaim in national and international art venues, and his ubiquitous graphic work has made him a staple on the international design scene. His biomorphic shapes pull from a 1950’s aesthetic while grounded in an expressionistic lineage, resulting in lush, playfully sophisticated abstract compositions.

Ray’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions worldwide including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, University Art Museum in Berkeley, San Jose Museum of Modern Art, The Crocker Museum in Sacramento, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions.
